LITERARY ARTS SUMMIT FEATURES A PANEL OF NOTED WRITERS
Mark June 27th on your calendars for the 3rd Annual Literary Arts Summit to be held once again in the Black Box Theatre at The Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.
This year’s panel includes James Grady, journalist and author of Six Days of the Condor (which was adapted into the Robert Redford movie); Maggie-Kate Coleman, a Hagerstown native (now a New Yorker) who wrote the book and lyrics for the award-winning musical POP!; writer-actor Dale Stein, who earned Helen Hayes Award Nominations for Best New Play and for Lead Actress for her one-person play, A Fresh of Breath Air; and Harry Bagdasian, a writer-director who co-founded both New Playwrights’ Theatre and The League of Washington Theatres, and who produced the Inaugural Helen Hayes Awards at The National Theatre in Washington.
The yearly Summit features noted writers in and around the area. Among previous presenters were such noted writers as Peter Stitt, editor of the Gettysburg Review; Tim Wendel, journalist and author of fiction (Castro’s Curveball) and narrative nonfiction (High Heat; Summer of ’68); and Tony Mendez, whose book Argo was adapted into the Oscar-winning movie.
The program will run from 6:15-8:30 p.m., with a brief intermission. Admission is free.
