The Foundation Board president, Brad Pingrey welcomed all new and returning Barbara Ingram School for the Arts parents on Monday and Tuesday night. Brad gave a brief history of the Foundation and presented the new “Parent” Hearts for the Arts Annual Membership campaign package. The Foundation and the school have collaborated on this project and both feel this program will benefit the school and the Foundation.

Maryland Symphony Orchestra Scholarships
The Maryland Symphony Orchestra has awarded two scholarships for students to attend the Barbara Ingram Summer Arts Academy. Grace Mellott from Chambersburg Middle School for the Flute camp and Freddy Koogle from Sharpsburg Elementary for the Guitar camp. This camp is being held from July 8-11 from 9-noon and the cost is $90.

Thomas L. Law Visual Arts Scholarship Awarded
The Thomas L. Law Visual Arts Scholarship was awarded to two students this year. The students are: Courtney Koogle from Boonsboro Middle School and Alexis French from Northern Middle School. Both students will be attending the Barbara Ingram Summer Arts Academy Visual Arts camp this summer.
The Barbara Ingram Summer Arts Academy Visual Arts camp is open to student in grades 6-10. This is a full day camp from 9-4 and the cost is $150. Congratulations to you both!
The Robert Herr Scholarship
The Robert Herr Scholarship
The Robert Herr Scholarship is a $500 scholarship to be applied towards the student’s future educational endeavors. The format is a writing essay and this year the school received 15 applications and the winner is Gabriella DiGiuseppe. Miss DiGiuseppe will be attending Hagerstown Community College in the Fall. Congratulations!

The Bill Dorsey Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Bill Dorsey Scholarship Fund for the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Washington County MD. The Fund was established by the Community Foundation in honor of Rev. Janice Dorsey, a 2008 People’s Choice Award winner.
The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to benefit qualifying students in vocal music or dance at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts. The recipient for the 2013-14 school year is Kenny Catchings, rising Senior in the Dance discipline.
